Chief Justice Permits Attorney General To Indict Suspects In The Treasury Bonds Scam In Permanent Trial At Bar

Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya permitted the Attorney General to prosecute the suspects in the Treasury bonds scam in the Permanent Trial at Bar. Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, former Deputy Governor P. Samarasiri, Perpetual Treasuries owner Arjuna Aloysius, CEO Kasun Palisena and its directors have been named suspects in the case. However, the Police are yet to arrest Mahendran who is believed to be hiding in Singapore where he is a citizen. The Attorney General will file indictments accordingly in the Permanent Trial-at-bar, a source from the Attorney General's Department said.
