Attorney General Instructs Acting IGP To Initiate Action Against Nine Senior Police Officers Over Their Failure To Prevent Easter Sunday Attacks

The Attorney General has instructed the Acting IGP to initiate disciplinary and criminal action against nine senior Police officers over their failure to prevent Easter Sunday explosions. Informed sources added that copies of the letters had been sent to the Chairman of the National Police Commission and the Secretary to the President.

DIGs in charge of the Western Province, North-Western Province and the Special Security Division, SSP - Negombo, SP - Colombo North, ASP - Negombo Div 03 and 04, and the OICs of Katana and Jempettah street police stations have been named by the Attorney General in his letter to the Acting IGP.

The officers had been named following the investigation carried out by the Presidential Committee appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena in the wake of the Easter Sunday explosions.
