Hirunika Says President Sirisena Interfered With TV-State Owned TV Station To Pull Her Out Of Political Talk Show

UNP Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra accused President Maithripala Sirisena of interfering with a state-owned TV station in order pull her out of a television talk show.

In a Faceboom post, Premachandra said the President had personally spoken to a senior official at TV station and directed him not to invite the UNP Parliamentarian for its weekly political show.

Premachandra added she had to pull out of the show at the last moment due to President Sirisena's interference.

In the Facebook post, Premachandra indicated that there was an understanding between her and the producers of the show not to talk about matters relating to President Sirisena during the discussion.

In spite of this understanding, Premachandra said, Sirisena used his influence to leave her out of the programme.

The UNP Colombo district Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra is one of the strongest critiques of President Sirisena within the UNP camp. She recently made a fiery speech in Parliament against the President's move to impose death penalty.
