Muslim MPs Who Resigned From Ministerial Posts Expected To Conduct Special Meeting On July 10 To Discuss Future Action

A group of Muslim MPs who resigned from their ministerial portfolios are expected to hold a meeting on July 10 on their future course of action.

Informed political sources said the meeting would be held in Parliament and the MPs would mainly focus on the grievances shared by Muslims across the country.

Muslim MPs representing the UNP re-accepted their ministerial portfolios last month following multiple requests from Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

"We too have received requested from the top echelons of the government to reconsider our decisions. Such requests will be also discussed at the meeting," a Parliamentarian said.
