Police Commission Secretary Who Is Facing Imminent Arrest Over Avant Garde Case Hospitalized Following "Sudden Illness"

National Police Commission Secretary Saman Dissanayake, who is facing imminent arrest over the Avant Garde case, has been hospitalized following a "sudden illness."

The Attorney General yesterday instructed the Acting IGP to arrest former Additional Secretaries to the Ministry of Defence Saman Dissanayake (currently the Police Commission Secretary) and Damayanthi Jayaratne and produce them to the court before July 19.

The Attorney General issued this instruction when the Acting IGP sought the AG's opinion on arresting suspects in the Avant Garde case.

An anticipatory bail application filed by Saman Dissanayake over the Avant Garde case was dismissed yesterday by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.

Court last week ordered to arrest five suspects relating to the Avant Garde case including the owner of the private security company former Army officer Nissanka Senadhipathy.
