Number Of Shops On River Banks In Ginigathhena Swept Away Due To Landslide: At Least One Person Missing

Landslide in Ginigathhena has swept away a number of small shops on the river bank.

The Disaster Management Centre said one person is missing due to the incident and search operations are underway.

Meanwhile, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology warned that Southwestern parts of the island are at 'high risk' of strong winds between 3 PM yesterday to 3 PM today.

The DMC also announced last evening that water levels of Kalu Ganga are rising to flood level. Those living downstream in Ratnapura, Ayagama, Kiriella and Elapatha are advised to evacuate with immediate effect.
