Acting Ministers Request Front-Row Seats In Parliament: Speaker Accepts Appointments But Turns Down Front-Row Request

Acting Ministers have informed the Speaker that they need front-row seats in Parliament, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Buddhika Pathirana said.

The Acting Ministers were appointed after a group of Muslim MPs rsigned from their Cabinet portfolios in the wake of the hunger strike carried out by Athuraliye Rathana Thera.

Responding to the request, the Speaker said he had acepted the appointments of the Acting Minister, but it was impossible to allocate front-row seats to them.

Although the Muslim MPs who resigned from their seats held several rounds of discussion on re-accepting their ministerial positions, no final decision has so far been made.
