President Sirisena And Opposition Leader Rajapaksa Hold Late Night Talks To Form Common Alliance: Partymen Say Discussions Fruitful

A special discussion between President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa has taken place last night, informed political sources said.

The discussion had centered around the proposed alliance between the SLFP and the SLPP.

The meeting between the two leaders followed a discussion between two delegations which took place yesterday morning at the Opposition Leader's Office in Colombo.

Although party sources say the discussion between Rajapaksa and Sirisena was "positive", the outcome of the meeting is not immediately clear.
