President Obtains Cabinet Approval To Send Presidential Commission Report On SriLankan And Mihin Lanka To AG's Department

President Maithripala Sirisena has obtained Cabinet approval to send the report of the Presidential Commission probing into SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka to the Attorney General's Department for further action.

The matter was taken up at the Cabinet meeting yesterday. The report is also expected to be presented to Parliament.

The Presidential Commission, appointed by Sirisena, looked into alleged irregularities and misappropriations at the two airlines during the period between 2006 and 2018.

It covers the period of the Rajapaksa administration and the Sirisena-Wickremesinghe administration. The commission was appointed after the relations between President Sirisena and the UNP strained towards the latter part of the national unity government.

The Presidential Commission report, prepared by five members, reportedly contains 32 recommendations.
