President Sirisena Wants To Expedite Bonds Scam Probe: Says Delays In Investigation Hindrance To Serving Justice

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed law enforcement authorities to expedite investigations into Treasury bonds scam.

The instructions were given at a meeting attended by representatives from the Bribery Commission, the Attorney General's Department, the Central Bank and the Acting IGP today.

Sirisena said delays on prosecuting suspects n the bonds scam are a hindrance to serving justice.

Speaking at the meeting, officials from the Bribery Commission said their investigations into money laundering have been delayed due to lack of cooperation on the part of commercial banks.
