Attorney General Refers Audio Of SG Dilrukshi Wickremasinghe's Conversation With Avant-Garde Chief To Public Services Commission

September 23, 2019

The Attorney General has referred the phone conversation of Solicitor General Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasighe with Avant Garde Chairman Nissanka Senashipathy to the Public Services Commission.

The AG's Department said an investigative officer would be appointed by the commission to probe deeper into the matter.

An alleged audiotape containing a telephone conversation between former Director General of the Bribery Commission Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe and Avant-Garde Chairman Nissanka Senashipathy was circulated widely on social media. Although the authenticity of the audio has been confirmed, Wickremasinghe said the conversation has been "distorted" and "doctored".

Issuing a statement subsequently, Wickremasinghe also revealed that it was a Cabinet minister of the current government who connected her with the Avant-Garde Chairman via telephone.

The Solicitor General also challenged Senadhipathy to reveal the full audiotape of the conversation.
