Sri Lanka's former cricket captain Dinesh Chandimal is set to join the SriLanka Army as a Commissioned Officer to play cricket for the Army Sports Club.

Army Cricket committee said Chandimal would be enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force as a Commissioned Officer of the Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.

National cricketers Ajantha Mendis, Asela Gunaratne and Seekkuge Prasanna have represented the Army Sports Club in the recent past.

Chandimal lost his place in the national cricket team earlier this year due to poor form. He pulled out of the current Pakistani tour citing security reasons.
