Railway Strike Called Off By Unions Following Elections Commission Chairman's Request

The trade union action which crippled the railway sector for nearly two weeks has been called off.

The development comes after the Elections Commission Chairman requested all trade unions to call of trade union actions during the nomination period.

During the election period, the government is not permitted to increase the salaries of state employees.

The railway strike incurred a daily loss of Rs. 15 million to the government.
