President Maithripala Sirisena Says He Is Considering Presidential Pardon For Shramantha Jayamaha The Convict Of Royal Park Murder Case

President Maithrpala Sirisena said he was considering a presidential pardon for Shramantha Jayamaha who was convicted for the Royal Park murder case.

"He was 19 at the time of the incident. He is now 32 and has even completed a PhD," Sirisena said, addressing a public event yesterday.

Shramantha Jude Jayamaha was found guilty of murder on July 11, 2012, and was given a death sentence.

The court case dealt with a high-profile murder of a young woman at the Royal Park luxury apartment complex in Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka, on June 30, 2005.

The convict was believed to have been involved in a love affair with the sister of the victim, Yvonne Johanson.
