Secretary To The President Says No Imminent Security Threat: Blames Some State Institutions And Individuals Are Causing Panic

Issuing a special statement, Secretary to President Maithripala Sirisena, Udaya R. Seneviratne said there was no imminent security threat to the country.

The statement said elements with vested interests were trying to instill fear among the public by publicizing regular documents pertaining to security situation in the country.

It particularly said some state institutions and individuals were creating panic among citizens by circulating such letters.

The Secretary to the President all steps had been taken to ensure national security and the public had no reason to fear.
