Six Of 35 Presidential Candidates Yet To Declare Assets: Five Of Them Are Independent Candidates

Six of the 35 Presidential candidates running for the Presidency are yet to declare their assets, Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said.

Declaring assets is a mandatory requirement for Presidential candidates according to the law.

Five of the six Presidential candidates who have not declared their assets so far are independent candidates, Deshapriya said. One of them represents a political party.

He added that the Elections Commission could file lawsuits against Presidential candidates who fail to declare their assets.
