Wasantha Senanayake's Fate Hangs In The Balance: SLPP Says No Final Decision On Giving Party Membership To Senanayake

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna said the party was yet to make a final decision on enrolling State Minister Wasantha Senanayake as a party member.

Speaking to Asian Mirror, a senior SLPP spokesman said no firm decision had been made on the matter.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Senanayake said his party membership remained intact as no proper procedure was followed when terminating his membership.

"They can do anything to my party membership. But I challenge them to take over my ministerial position. Only the President can take over my President," he added.

However, with the SLPP showing reluctance to welcome Senanayake to the party, the State Minister's political future hangs in the balance.

Senanayake switched sides nearly eight times during the political crisis last year.
