Defence State Minister Chamal Rajapaksa assumed office at the Ministry of Defence today.

Defence Ministry Secretary Kamal Gunaratne, Chief of Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, tri-forces commander and the Acting IGP were present at the occassion.

No Cabinet minister has been appointed to the Ministry of Defence.
