December 06, 2019

The Tamil National Alliance(TNA) has categorically stated that it will not support the dilution of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

TNA Leader R. Sampanthan has told the US Ambassador that the party will not support any move that will weaken the 19th Amendment to the Constitution and disempower the Independent Commissions.

The TNA strongly supported the 19th Amendment to the Constitution and Sampanthan, as a former Opposition Leader, unequivocally supported its implementation.

Sampanthan has also told the US Ambassador that his party is ready to negotiate meaningful power devolution with the new government.

He said the new Prime Minister had time and again expressed his commitment to fully implement the 13th Amendment.
