A UNP is likely to appoint a committee to resolve the leadership issue.

UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Kabir Hashim, Malik Samarawickrama and number of others are expected to be the members of the committee.However, those who back Saith Premadasa for party leadership are opposed to the appoinment of a committee to resolve the matter.

The parliamentary group of the party last week unanimously decided to appoint Sajith Premadasa as the Leader of the Opposition.
