Two Suspects Who Identified Themselves As "White Van Abductors" To Be Produced Before Magistrate Today: Were They Offered Rs. 2 Million Each?

Two individuals, who have been arrested for making statememts before media identifying themselves as "white van abductors", will be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.

They addressed a media conference alongside former Minister Rajitha Senaratne before the last Presidential election. At the press conference, they identified themselves as individuals who carried out white van abductions under the Rajapaksa government before 2015.

The two suspects have been identified as residents of Kotahena and Ampara.

They were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on December 13 and were questioned under a 72-hour detention order.

Unauthoritative sources said that the suspects had told the CID that they were offered Rs. 2 million each for appearing before the media as "white van abductors".
