UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka had been arrested in an undemocratic manner.

Issuing a statement, Wickremesinghe said the Parliamentian had been arrested deviating from the usual procedure exercised when arresting MPs.

The UNP Leader said Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had been kept in the dark about the arrest.

He also said the case related to the accident involving Ranawaka had already been concluded by the court.

Issuing a statement, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya also echoed similar sentiments yesterday.
