Former Director of the CID SSP Shani Abeysekera has filed a Fundamental Rights petition against his transfer as the Personal Assistant to the DIG Southern Province.

Abeysekera was given a surprise transfer just days after President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa assumed office.

He was responsible for a number of high-profile investigations involving leading members of the Rajapaksa administration before 2015.
