Namal Rajapaksa Says Rebuilding In Public Trust In Judiciary A Major Challenge After 'Ranjan Leaks' Revelations

Ruling party MP Namal Rajapaksa said following recent revelations of the "unbelievable interference in and manipulation of the law enforcement process", building trust in the Police and the judiciary would be a major challenge for any government.

The MP was referring to the leaked telephone conversations between UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake and a number of other well-known individuals. "But it must be done," Rajapaksa said commenting on "rebuilding" the public faith in Sri Lanka's judicial frameworks.

However, a number of ruling party MPs have already indicated Duminda Silva's death sentence should be revisited in the wake of Ramanayake's leaked conversations with a judge who gave the sentence.
