Government To Appoint A Commission Headed By Retired Judge To Probe Alleged Corruption And Inefficiency At Department Of Motor Traffic

The government will appoint a commission to probe alleged malpractices involving the Department of Motor Traffic.

Transport Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has informed his Ministry Secretary to take necessary measures in this regard.

The commission will be headed by a retired judge, informed government sources said.

The government has received a number of complaints with regard to corruption and inefficiency on the part of the Department which provides services to tens of thousands of people on a daily basis.

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa conducted a surprise investigation visit to the Department of Motor Traffic office in Wrahera, Boralesgamuwa, last month.
