UNP Suspends Party Membership Of Ranjan Ramanayake In The Wake Of Recent Call Recording Controversy

The United National Party has suspended the party membership of MP Ranjan Ramanayake.

The decision has been made in the wake of the recent controversy over leaked phone recordings of the Parliamentarian.The decision will be effective until the next Working Committee meeting of the patry.

The decision was announced by UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. Party sources said there would be a disciplinary inquiry into the conduct of the MP.

Ramanayake also served as a State Minister of the previous government.
