EU Says GSP+ Granted To Sri Lanka "Not Automatic": Says Implementation Of International Convention Will Be Monitored Closely

The delegation of European Union to Sri Lanka said GSP+ facility granted to Sri Lanka was not automatic.

"It is granted only if there is continued and effective implementation of 27 international conventions, related to human and labour rights, environment and good governance, " it said in a statement.

"The EU monitors this implementation closely, " the statement also added.

The EU previously announced that the GSP+ facility granted to Sri Lanka would be extended until 2023.
