Court of Appeal Chairman Yasantha Kodagoda has been appointed a Supreme Court judge.

Kodagoda's appointment was confirmed by the Constitutional Council today.

A vacancy was created in the Supreme Court following the demise of justice Prasanna Jayawardena.

The President recommended Kodagoda's name to the position last week.
