The Court of Appeal issued an interim order not to arrest interdicted High Court judge Gihan Pilapitiya without a Magistrate's Court order.

Pilapitiya filed a writ application before the Court of Appeal seeking an interim injunction order preventing his arrest.

The Attorney General has instructed the Acting IGP twice to obtain a warrant to arrest Pilapitiya.

However, the instruction has sparked outrage among a section of lawyers who went on to stage a protest in Colombo.

Pilapitiya is involved in the call recording controversy linked to UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake.
