The government has decided to close down privately-owned pharmacies and those owned by supermarket chains until further notice.

However, the pharmacies owned by the State Pharmaceutical Corporation will remain open.

The decision was as the Police noticed a surge in traffic on the roads in Colombo this morning despite the ongoing curfew.

The Police have stated that strict measures will be put in place to enforce the cufew.
