A 47-year-old Sri Lankan man is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for the alleged rape of a six-year-old on March 7, 2020, in Franklin County, Ohio

The FBI said that the man - Chaminda Prabhath Palliyaguru — had ties to New Albany, Ohio, and Anaheim, California but was also known to travel to Sri Lanka on a semi-frequent basis.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on April 21, 2020, after he was charged with the rape of a minor under the age of 10 and three counts of gross sexual imposition of a minor child less than 13.

On April 22, he was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.

Palliyaguru was last seen in San Diego, California, near the U.S./Mexico border.

The FBI has asked for anyone with information to contact nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
