COVID19 Task Force Recommends President To Reopen Airport For Tourists On August 01: Says No COVID19 Patient Was Found From Community After April 30

The Presidential Task Force on COVID19 has recommended President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to reopen the airport for tourists from August 01 onwards.

This was discussed at a meeting that took place today under the patronage of the President. The current status of the national mission against COVID19 was discussed at the meeting.

However, a final decision reopening the airport for tourists is yet to be made.

The Task Force members pointed out to the President that no COVID19 patient was found from society after April 30.

The meeting specifically focused on uplifting the tourism sector which has been severely affected by the global pandemic.

The President advised tourism authorities to prepare a comprehensive plan for tourism development in consultation with industry leaders.
