Large Crowds Gather In Kotagala To Pay Last Respect To Arumugam Thondaman: No Social Distancing Practiced: Police Unable To Manage Crowds

Scenes from Kotagala where people lined the streets to pay last respects to late MP Arumugam Thondaman demonstrated that quarantine rules were violated in broad daylight today, despite the curfew imposed by the government.

Witnesses said the Police and the armed forces were unable to manage the large crowds who gathered to pay last respect to the former Minister.

No social distancing was practised during the funeral although it was attended by many notable figues.

Arumugam Thondaman's son Jeevan Thondaman also came under severe fire for playing politics over the body of his father.

The 26-year-old was waving at party supporters from an open vehicle during the funeral procession of Arumugam Thondaman yesterday.

Many who commented on the matter on social media said Jeevan Thondaman's behavior resembled "scenes from a Tamilnadu movie."
