"Don't Come To Me Seeking Promotions If You Can't Maintain Discipline And Order In Prisons": President Tells Senior Prison Officials

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said prison officials who cannot curb 'criminal rings' operated in prions should go home without.

Addressing a meeting with senior officials from the Department of Prisons, President Rajapaksa said many criminal activities are planned and executed from prisons.

"If you cannot prevent smuggling of mobile phones into the Prisons, there is something terribly wrong with your way of operations," he said.

The President also asked the senior officials not to come to him seeking high positions if they could not perform the simple task of maintaining order within prisons.

President Rajapaksa also promised speedy solutions to the infrastructure issues faced by prison officials.
