Well-known Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Ernest Poruthota has passed away at a private hospital.

He was 88 at the time of his demise.

In addition to his yeoman service to the church, Fr. Poruthota was also a towering figure in the field of communication and cinema.

e was a founding member of the Film Critics and Journalists Association of Sri Lanka, formed in 1968.
