The Criminal Investigations Department has summoned former Deputy Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman over a controversial statement he made during an election rally.

Addressing a meeting, the former LTTE bigwig said he was more dangerous than COVID19 as he had killed nearly 3000 soldiers in one night.

The statement sparked a major controversy and many parties called for stern action against Karuna Amman.

He is an ally of the SLPP although he runs for the election from a different party.
