No need to impose curfew - DG Health Services

Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe today said there was no necessity to impose a curfew in the country in the wake of a sudden spike in the number of cases.

Speaking to a private TV station this morning, Jasinghe said COVID19 has not spread across the country and the health authorities are capable of containing the situation.

Meanwhile, President Gotabhaya Rajapksa yesterday instructed the health authorities to increase testing in high-risk areas including Rajanganaya.

The President also instructed them to expedite contact tracing and measures quarantine individuals who had contacts with patients.

Rajapaksa also stressed the need to inform the public about the ongoing measures to control the situation.
