Consumers will have to pay tariff for March, April, May similar to that of February bill

The Ministry of Power has decided to match the March, April and May electricity bills to that of February or lowest bills received thereafter in order to the crisis around electricity bills in the country.

Many complained that they received monstrous bills from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) once the lockdown was lifted last month.

The Ministry also decided to give a grace period of two months for payment of electricity bills.

They also said steps would be taken to reimburse the relevant amount for consumers who have already paid the bill or to deduct the paid amount from future bills.
