EC requests CID to defer Easter Sunday probes until end of election

The Elections Commission has advised the Acting IGP to defer the investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks until the conclusion of the Parliamentary election.

The Commission unanimously reached the decision having considered a complaint lodged by ACMC leader Rishad Bathiudeen.

Bathiudeen said continuous summons issued to him by the CID hampered his election campaign.

The ACMC Leader said he already gave evidence on the same matter to the Parliamentary Select Committee last year.
