Minister of Power Dulaas Alahapperuma today apologised to Parliament over the island-wide blackout which crippled the country on Monday.

Speaking in Parliament, Alahappruma said he owed an apology to the country over the power failure.

He said the blackout caused a staggering loss to the country's economy.

It took about eight hours for the Electricity Board to restore the power supply in the country.
