Ruwan Wijewardena has been appointed the Deputy Leader of the UNP.

The appointment was made through a secret ballot held at the Working Committee meeting of the party.

Ravi Karunanayake and Ruwan Wijewardena’s names were proposed as main candidates for the deputy leader post of the party.

UNP sources said that Wijewardena obtained 28 votes while Karunanayake secured only 10 votes .
