Wigneswaran Urges Tamil Youth To Keep Tabs On SL Army Activities

Sri Lanka’s Northern Province C V Wigneswaran urged the Tamil youth to collect information on the deployment and activities of the Sri Lankan armed forces in the province.

Speaking at the convention of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK), at Vavuniya recently, the Chief Minister said that the Sri Lankan forces are collecting data on all the residents of the area and even the ‘body language’ and daily routines of the residents.

Following this incident Wigneswaran urged the youth of the party to take note on the military activities in the region. Wigneswaran urged the youth to record all army deployments including the numbers, dates and the quantity of land they occupy.

He also called for utilizing women power, and efforts to rehabilitate and put to use former women cadre of the LTTE in the ITAK’s democratic movement.

However, the Chief Minister cautioned against reviving separatism and violence as these are not suited to the emerging conditions in the world and had failed to deliver the goods in the past.

A comprehensive and realistic world view is needed to determine the right goals and methods, he stressed.
