More Than 60 Percent Cast Their Votes In Uva

Voter turnout in the Uva Provincial Council Election exceeded 60 percent, according to election observers.

The election was held across 834 polling stations in Badulla and Moneragala Districts. The polling took place from 7am to 4pm. 609,966 from Badulla and 332,764 from Moneragala were eligible to cast their votes in the election.

The turnout was much better in Moneragala, exceeding 70 percent.

There were some reported incidents of violence, including the attack on Bandarawela Mayor by a group of UPFA politicians at Diyathalawa Police Station.

However, many places in the province were peaceful.
