Alcohol prices have been increased effective from October 10.

Commissioner General of the Excise Department Wasantha Hapuarachchi has stated that the price of one proof litre of alcohol has been raised by Rs.90 while the price of one proof litre of beer with an alcohol percentage of more than 5% will be increased by Rs.15.

Beer with an alcohol percentage of less than 5 % will be raised by Rs.10.

The Commissioner General of the Excise Department stated that the price of one proof litre of locally produced foreign alcohol will be increased by Rs.120.

This price increase came days after the government increased cigarette prices also.
