Police Yet To Identify SLPA Workers Who Attacked MP Yogarajan's Vehicle

Filing a facts report into a complaint lodged by UNP parliamentarian R. Yogarajan in connection with an attack on his Mitsubishi Montero car (65-2339) by a mob at a premises of Sri Lanka Port Authority in Colombo 2, the Slave Island police told Court that the suspects involved in the incident are yet to be ascertained. 

The Slave Island police told Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage that they were yet to receive video footage and the culprits are to be ascertained accordingly. 

President’s Counsel Wijedasa Rajapaksha yesterday asked why the police did not arrest the suspects who attacked the vehicle belonging to parliamentain R. Yograjan who also lodged a complaint with the Slave Island Police.

Yogarajan was among the UNP MPs who visited the Sri Lanka Ports Authority premises last week to ascertain whether state resources were being utilized for election campaigns. The UNP MPs alleged that they came under attack from some members of a state affiliated trade union at the SLPA premises. Due to the incident several vecicles were damaged. 

UNP Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake, Parliamentarians Ajith P Perera and Nalin Bandara were other members of the UNP delegation who visited the Sri Lanka Ports Authority premises.
