Mervyn Laments Over Duties He Could Not Fulfill

November 16, 2014

Minister Mervyn Silva has lamented that he has not been able to fulfill the duties he was assigned to. He also assured that he will not give up his political journey till despite the fact that he had been let down.

Speaking at a meeting in Biyagama, the Minister has said that he never shied away from challenges or responsibilities. He stated that he had been in prison before, and has been out of power. But he was never discouraged. His only son was in remand prison for an alleged assault. Yet he is not discouraged, Silva added.

He also said that he will fall to his knees only in front of the Lord Buddha and his teachings and also in front of the people who had voted for him. He was not going to fall on his knees in search of political office and power, he added.

Silva also said that “if you undertook a task you must do it. If I cannot complete the task, I will hand it over to someone who is competent.” He mentioned that with the arrival of General Fonseka to the political scene, many who are now holding positions hid away. If was Mervyn Silva who stopped Fonseka at the Katunayake Airport and at the Kelaniya Temple and the whole country is aware of that, he added.
