Swamy Seeks Ban On Prabhakaran Birth Anniversary Celebration In TN

November 22, 2014

Senior BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy on Friday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and urged him to issue a directive to the Tamil Nadu Government to ban the proposed birthday celebrations of slain LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran, who had masterminded the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Dr. Swamy urged the Home Minister to issue a directive under Article 256 of the Constitution [to ensure compliance with the laws made by Parliament and any existing laws which apply in that State], stating “these celebrations are being organised by MDMK leader Vaiko... the MDMK must be ejected from the NDA and Vaiko locked up under the National Security Act."

He also wanted the Home Minister to order the setting up of a Special Investigation Team under the Central Bureau of Investigation to prosecute those responsible for the murder of Sunanda Pushkar.
