Maithripala And UNP Agree To Form A National Govt For 100 Days

Common candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the United National Party have arrived at an agreement to form a national government for a period of 100 days after coming to power.

The proposal with regard to the national government was presented by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe. Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the SLFP group supporting him have given their consent to implement the proposal.

The pledge to form a national government for a period of 100 days will be a key point in Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena's election manifesto.

The sole purpose of the national government is to abolish the Executive Presidency and ensure good governance, a spokesman of the opposition told 'Asian Mirror'.

The proposal will be presented to all political parties and civil organization that are willing to work with the common opposition.
