Anura Priyadarshana Yapa assumed duties as the new General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party today  at the SLFP headquarters. A lawyer by profession Yapa first entered Parliament in 1994, representing the Kurunegala District. He is also the Petroleum Industries Minister.
