"We Will Defend Govt On War Crimes Charges" : Champika

The Jathika Hela Urumaya states that its priority at the moment will be frighting for good governance.

The General Secretary of the JHU Patali Champika Ranawaka said that the party which left the government on November 18, embarked on a public awareness campaign on its proposals for socio-economic and political change. He stressed that the JHU was hoping to gather all political parties in one group for this purpose.

Awareness campaign will be continued through the week and a special awareness program is organized to be held on November 27 at the Public Library in Colombo, Ranawaka added.

He has also stressed that the JHU will continue to defend the country against foreign interventions and the possibility of leveling war crimes allegations against the government including President Rajapaksa.

It is learnt that the JHU will choose to support common candidate Maithripala Sirisena at the forthcoming presidential polls. However, the party has not yet officially announced its position on supporting the common candidate.
